"GIVING VOICE TO TIME THROUGH CONTEMPORARY CORSICAN POLYPHONY"

In modern world-music scene, few ensembles capture this subtle interaction between tradition and innovation as profoundly as Tempvs Fvgit. This vocal group brings new life to Corsican polyphony by creating a distinctive sound that is both ancient and ever new.

Tempvs Fvgit gives voice to the passage of time of their homeland, where it flows gently, cradled by murmuring rivers in the cycle of the seasons; and where ancestral rituals leave behind an archaic essence that illuminates every sung note. The quartet weaves together two repertoires: sacred and traditional on one side, profane and contemporary on the other. As guardians of an ancient polyphonic tradition, the group has chosen the circle as a symbol of their creation, reflecting the cyclical nature of time.

"For us, singing is a way to go beyond time in order to fully embrace it."

Rooted in Corsican musical heritage, Tempvs Fvgit has developed its own path: from the early release of traditional Mass Vultum tuum (Nebbiu, 2003, Harmonia Mundi), to years of concerts, collaborations and workshops across Europe, Singapore, and Japan. Over that time they have created a series of original performance works including Passione (2008), E cusì sìa (2012), Ex Tenebris (2014), Da caminu (2017), Colomba / Histoires Corse (2017), In Absentia (2019), and ORA (2020), culminating in the new album Da Caminu in 2025.

Repertoire: from sacred roots to contemporary polyphony Tempvs Fvgit works with two complementary repertoires: original songs of the groups and polyphonic arrangements of traditional Corsican songs: a blend of sacred and secular music.

• “NEBBIU” - Ancient sacred hymns and traditional polyphonic chants, including pieces from the Nebbiu region and Vultum Tuum, a lost but reconstructed Roman Mass with Byzantine influences.

• “DA CAMINU” – contemporary works composed by the group, using the structure and vocal language of Corsican polyphony to explore time, transmission, and creative expression. These pieces form the core of their 2025 album Da Caminu.

Released in April 2025, Da Caminu quickly gained international attention. Tracks from the album have been broadcast on more than 200 local and international radio programs worldwide and the group was featured in dedicated reports on Corsican public TV. In June the album entered the Transglobal World Music Chart, and in august – World Music Charts Europe (in the top 10), confirming its strong reception within the global music community. The ensemble continues to expand its presence with growing interest both from music media and the audience.
